The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +15.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to market size in terms of the main consuming countries over the period under review, while market for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The countries with the highest levels of wood kitchenware and tableware per capita consumption in 2024 were the United Arab Emirates (281 kg per 1000 persons), Kuwait (248 kg per 1000 persons) and Oman (237 kg per 1000 persons).

In value terms, wood kitchenware and tableware imports reduced to $29M in 2024. Overall, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $48M. From 2022 to 2024, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Saudi Arabia (3.6K tons) and the United Arab Emirates (3.2K tons) prevails in imports structure, together mixing up 88% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kuwait (351 tons), making up a 4.6% share of total imports. The following importers - Qatar (259 tons) and Oman (241 tons) - each accounted for a 6.5% share of total imports.

From 2013 to 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +9.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($15M), Saudi Arabia ($10M) and Qatar ($1.5M) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2024, with a combined 92% share of total imports.

The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +9.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2024, the import price in GCC amounted to $3,814 per ton, with a decrease of -18.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2022 when the import price increased by 20% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $4,678 per ton in 2023, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2024, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($5,713 per ton), while Saudi Arabia ($2,895 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2024, approx. 1.2K tons of tableware and kitchenware of wood were exported in GCC; jumping by 169% compared with 2023 figures. Overall, exports saw a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 210% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2024 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, wood kitchenware and tableware exports skyrocketed to $3.3M in 2024. In general, exports posted a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 145%. The level of export peaked in 2024 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Qatar was the main exporter of tableware and kitchenware of wood in GCC, with the volume of exports reaching 681 tons, which was near 55% of total exports in 2024. The United Arab Emirates (315 tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (145 tons) and Kuwait (101 tons). All these countries together took approx. 45% share of total exports.

From 2013 to 2024, average annual rates of growth with regard to wood kitchenware and tableware exports from Qatar stood at +42.9%. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+70.8%) and Kuwait (+26.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of +70.8% from 2013-2024. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Qatar (+52 p.p.), Saudi Arabia (+12 p.p.) and Kuwait (+6.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2013-2024, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-70.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($1.4M), Kuwait ($900K) and Qatar ($528K) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2024, together comprising 84% of total exports. These countries were followed by Saudi Arabia, which accounted for a further 16%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +41.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in GCC stood at $2,661 per ton in 2024, waning by -35.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 247% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,965 per ton. From 2022 to 2024, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($8,878 per ton), while Qatar ($776 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
